Promotional Magazine Cover
Evaluation- For my promotional magazine cover, I tried to keep a consistent colour scheme in order for the reader to associate the Brand with these colors, which I think is a good ideas it familiarizes the reader with the Brand Identity in question. I also included several images to give the reader an idea of what to expect whilst enticing the reader with the several examples of students throughout various types of study or preparation. I made sure that all the students either were happy or interested in what they were doing so that the reader would associate the college with such connotations regarding it.I like to think it gives a positive atmosphere for their envisionment of the college, which is good because it allows for a wider demographic to be made by the association of such feelings as it allows for the primary, secondary, and teitary audience. My primary target audience will be students looking to enroll within the college, so I made sure to show several images of a positive education lifestyle within college, to focus on showing incentives to persuade them to want to come. My secondary audience would be the parents of younger students looking to enroll their child within the college so I have attributed these factors within my magazine in order to gain a more flourished and varied audience, which as mentioned regarding the primary audience, the images will also have a similar effect as it will hopefully give the parents a more supportive role in sending their child to the college due to seeing such cheerful and heavily interested faces. The tertiary audience would be companies such as Ofsted which will perhaps be looking at the magazine in order to compare it to the actual college itself which means I shouldn't falsely advertise anything that isn't actually available within the college, which is why I've made sure to include several facts and statistics in order to promote the college whilst still staying truthful to the readership. These statistics will also encourage the previously mentioned audiences to come as they have official statistics to support the idea of coming to the college rather than just happy images shown by itself.
Perhaps something that I could've considered adding for the magazine cover would be a splash/plug in order to give an incentive for a potential buyer to purchase said product.I made sure to add essential information, such as the date,b barcode and price for the key details important for purchase within a selling stand point. I could've perhaps added an issue number to specify which version of magazine this is for the college, however I feel for this type of magazine it would be more of a cosmetic view rather than a essential information view, as I feel this wouldn't be a regularly produced magazine and rather a yearly release for new students, which is the way I envision it.
Overall, I think that the front cover for the magazine I designed looks very nice and includes several of the key features required within what a typical magazine uses. I think it incorporates a consistent brand identity through its use of colour and various other techniques, such as the logo or the background that surrounds the dominant images, along with the sub-images. I think it creates a positive and educational scenery within it. I am happy with the way it turned out and think that the things that could be added are very minor and don't negatively impact the front cover without their presence. I've managed to cater to all of my key audiences and include facts which would draw their attention to the magazine.
